The Importance of Canada's Boreal Forest to Landbirds

First posted, May, 2003

Revised, July 2003

The importance of Canada's boreal forest ecosystem to land birds was documented for the first time in a report commissioned by the CBI and the Boreal Songbird Initiative that was prepared for International Migratory Bird Day, May 2003. As of July 31, 2003, a revised version of the report is available containing two pages of missing data from the original version, and corrected versions of Table 7, page 13 and Figure 13, page 35. You can view the full revised report, The Importance of Canada's Boreal Forest to Landbirds, by Peter Blancher, Partners In Flight Scientist for Bird Studies Canada. The May 5, 2003 media release and an accompanying fact sheet, as well as a user-friendly summary of the report's findings are also available on this site.
