Column: Premier gives 'nature's way' a chance

Back in March, when she made her maiden speech in the Legislature, the charming new member for Hamilton Mountain, Sophia Aggelonitis, favoured the place with a Greek proverb.

"A society grows great," she said, "when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in."

While judgments about political greatness can be left to later days, Premier Dalton McGuinty demonstrated this week that the wisdom of foresight, at least, isn't exclusive to the Greeks.
